I am a first year teacher to 22 amazing students in 2nd grade who need extra attention in the area of Fact and Opinion. Many of these students come from a poverty stricken home with the only support coming from the classroom.

Walking into a classroom for the first time and being faced with students of all different abilities can be very challenging. I have accepted the challenge, and I am working to improve each student's literacy skill in the area of fact and opinion one day at a time. I spend 45 minutes each morning in whole group activities and about an hour in literacy centers. The centers allow me to pull students in small groups according to abilities while the others work independently to complete literacy activities. I have several activities for the students to complete daily, but adding fact and opinion games to my classroom will enhance the students learning abilities to another level.

Getting students to understand the difference between fact and opinion can be very difficult for most students in my class. With the fact and opinion games the students will have the opportunity to play a fun and exciting game as well as learn a very important literary skill. It touches my heart to know that students will be able to understand the difference between fact and opinion a little easier playing the fact and opinion games.

By adding fact and opinion games to my classroom, I am certain that my students will excel in the area of literacy. I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read and consider my proposal to help my first year students become fact and opinion fluent.
