I teach a 3rd grade special education class in a high needs school in NYC, in where students lack many learning resources they need to excel. Most of my students are readers that struggle and read on a pre-primer or primer level. I have ten students in my Special Education class (learning and emotionally disabled). I am writing this proposal as a desperate cry for your help. My students are always excited to use my iPod. One day I got an idea to record books on my iPod for my struggling students to listen to while they read along with the books. This tool has brought tremendous progress amongst my struggling readers. Unfortunately only two students can listen to these books at a time. It would benefit my students tremendously if you donated an ipod to our class. In addition to listening to books the ipod will afford them the opportunity to replay mini lessons, build language skills, review tests. iPod puts students in control, empowering them to study at their own pace, when and where they’re ready to learn. The ipod will bring subjects to life. They will be able to view multimedia lessons that span music, art, and literature. In addition they would be able to view 3D imagery like math modeling and science simulations into students’ hands.
