Golden Acrylics Needed to Broaden Painting Experience

My Advanced Placement Painting students need acrylic paints.

Our school is an inner-city, high-poverty high school with 2,800 students. As a unique comprehensive high school there are courses of study in both academic and vocational disciplines. I teach Painting and Drawing as well as Advanced Placement Studio. Most of my students are juniors and seniors with loads of talent preparing portfolios to compete for scholarships at the top art schools.

Many of our students come from low economic family situations. Some have never been to an art museum or an art gallery. They have never experienced the beauty of seeing a painting up close to examine brush strokes and expressive lines and color. It is so important for my students to learn about a wide variety of art styles and techniques. Without a broader range of experiences there is a tendency towards typical images of graffiti and cartooning.

Giving this quality of paint to my students acknowledges their talent and their ambitions. The Golden Acrylic Company has a specific paint formulation, heavily pigmented rich colors with a depth that look like oil paintings without the toxicity. The historical paint formulations allow for a oil glazing technique used by the old masters. I have heard college representatives comment to my students about the beauty of the paintings asking them to explain the techniques. The whole experience gives the student a unique work of art for their portfolio and a deeper understanding of the process of painting in a digital world.

Your contribution will make it possible for my talented students to compete with wealthier school districts as they prepare for college portfolios and the future. Providing an art medium that is of high quality rather than a step above elementary tempera paint shows the students that their talent and effort is of great value to bring beauty into the world.
