Are you looking for a way to capture students' attention to learn math skills? Well, so am I!! I teach math to 75 sixth grade students. Most of my students told me the first day of school that they do not like math. Of the 75 students I teach at least 35 of these students have scored below 3rd grade level in math skills. These students have no parental support and rarely complete homework assignments. The only support and guidance they receive is through me during school hours.

I have actually found a solution to make my students think math is fun and are eager to learn. I wrote a grant and received a Promethean board. In order for this board to work properly it needs to be connected to a computer. I have asked the school to please purchase me a laptop so that my board works properly but I have not had any success. Right now I have the board connected to an old laptop that freezes the program, shrinks the screen, or just will not allow the software for the board to work properly. This becomes very frustrating for me and to my students.

If I had a new laptop, the software would work properly, and my students would begin to enjoy the world of the Promethean Board without any disruptions and loss of teaching time. When the board doesn't work properly, everything has to be shut down and restarted which takes away from teaching time and students learning. This board allows so many concepts to be taught and my students get so excited when we are doing an activity with the board until it freezes or will not work. I also have the activities that go with the board. The activities allow each student to answer questions and problems from their desk. The software records their results for me to track and to help each individual student so that I can have differentiated instruction.

Your help will allow me to continue to make my students excited about learning math. Let's face it you cannot survive in this world if you do not know how to add, subtract, multiply, or divide. My students are very weak in math this year and I have finally found something to motivate them. Please help me to continue to boost them up in math by supporting my project.
