Picture cues are critical in teaching the Kindergartens music. When I can show pictures and use movement to demonstrate the words we are singing, it aids the students who lack sufficient English language skills in participating more fully in the music curriculum with English speaking peers.
With little finances provided to the music department, I am in great need of picture books that combine nursery rhymes, literature and story into songs. By using this method of teaching my 135 Kindergarten children, I can make certain that my classes are both enjoyable and educational to all students regardless of the obstacles they are striving to overcome.
Your donation will enable my students to be exposed to literature through song and movement. By combining these subjects, greater understanding of the English language will occur.
My students need picture books that are also songs, including "Miss Mary Mack" and "Puff the Magic Dragon".
Dear Jillian, Fran, Sarah, Lori, Erin, Patty, Staci, Genica, Tamara, Beth & Miyah, Emilie, Kathleen, DonorsChoose.org Team and Anonymous Donor,
My students are in love with our new resources that integrate music and literature. The picture books have greatly aided in teaching my multi-cultural children the music concepts and songs. The children have read the stories, sung the songs, drawn pictures correlating with the songs and have been checking these books out of the library too! Even the parents have commented how their children have been coming home singing!
Your generosity is so appreciated and the children have a greater understanding for music and how it works together with reading. Again, many thanks for helping my students!
With gratitude, Mrs. H.

Dear Jillian, Fran, Sarah, Lori, Erin, Patty, Staci, Genica, Tamara, Beth & Miyah, Emilie, Kathleen, DonorsChoose.org Team and Anonymous Donor,
Thank you so very much for donating to my project which integrates literature and music for my youngest students. Most of the children are immigrants or refugees, entering our school with very little (if any) English skills. Using literature and music to encourage the development of language skills will make learning extra fun! I am looking forward to sharing these new books with my students and I promise to that the materials you have so generously provided me, will be used in my classroom for many years to come.
With gratitude, Mrs. H.
