Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach third grade math and science. Our school has a high percentage of students who participate in the free and reduced lunch program. We also have many students who are English Language Learners. They are all eager to learn new things!

Many of my students have difficulty memorizing their math facts. As a result, work that should be completed quickly takes a lot of time because they have to figure out each fact every time.

MathShark is a fun game that students can play in their own time to help with the memorization of their math facts. The MathShark classroom system will allow students to practice their math facts in a fun and competitive way. The MathShark will randomly drill the students on essential math facts on 8 different levels. The lights and tones when they answer correctly will build learning confidence. It will also allow students to work on their facts when they have extra time or have finished their assignments. We also need six packages of rechargeable AA batteries to keep the MathShark operating.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity to memorize their facts in a fun way. It will give them a skill that will help them as they continue through school and in life.
