"My classroom is a mix of students with reading levels from 4th grade to college. They are all seniors and the majority will graduate this year, regardless of their reading level.
Our school has resources, but they seem to be focused on things other than books. We cannot afford the number of books I need to meet the number of students in my classes. I have 150 seniors and 50 books. This means that my students have to read the entire book in class. This is difficult for my students who have low reading levels. To have a book to send home with each student would make a huge difference.
I am only asking for 29 copies so that I can stay within a realistic number and hopefully receive funding. The more I have the more I will be able to send home with students who are slow readers. If this works I may try again and eventually get up to the 150 books I need.
Your help with this project will ensure that my students have an ample chance to read, probably the first non-fiction book they have ever read. The book promotes positive food life for a sustainable future, so beyond educating them in the reading of non-fiction, it may change the food lives of some of our future generation.
My students need 29 copies of the book "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life" by Barbara Kingsolver.

Dear Cash4Books.net, DonorsChoose.org Team and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
Thank you for funding our project, "Reading for Sustainable Future"! My students are looking forward to the opportunity to read approachable non-fiction and to learn more about how to eat "sustainably." As a literature teacher I feel that it is my job to prepare my students for all aspects of life, as literature itself encompasses all facets of existence. I humbly thank you for your kindness and dedication to the future generations!
