Encourage 5th Graders to Role Model Cooperation with Buddies

My students need 5 copies of the book "The Tale of Despereaux" for literature circles, class packs of colored pencils and markers for art projects, 4 packs of multicultural colored markers for drawing people, and boardgames (Yahtzee, Scrabble, and Trouble) to play on rainy days with their third grade buddies.

Hi. My 5th grade students are high-performing students that like to volunteer their time role-modeling cooperative behavior with their 3rd grade "buddy" class. These supplies and the book would all encourage character education.

The rainy season is upon us and my students are interested in playing educational board games, reading, and doing fun indoor arts and craft activities with their younger buddies. The only obstacle is that I am a first year teacher and I do not have the games and arts supplies to facilitate these cooperative-learning activities.

We would appreciate any "kid-friendly" board games that facilitate cooperation and learning. Also, my students are very artistic and they love to create motivational posters and cards with their buddies. The art supplies would facilitate their desires of being more creative. Lastly, the "Tale of Despereaux" is a book that encourages character education.

Your donations are greatly appreciated and will help to motivate my students to be creative and cooperative role-models for our younger 3rd grade buddies.
