I am the dance teacher for a new elementary school. I teach ALL students from Pre-K through 2nd grade. We are a Title I school serving an economically depressed community.

I am excited to be a part of this school’s introductory year serving the families of this particular neighborhood and offering students a well rounded education. The arts are an important part every child’s educational process and too often overlooked.

Not only are we a new school, but we are a Title I institution that serves a population of underserved families. The fact that our Principal initiated an academically rich and diverse school that supports arts education is quite phenomenal! This is precisely why we want to supplement our basic foundation with appropriate materials.

We are planning to have at least three performances at the school this year and I would love to document both the student’s progress as well as every performance. It would be wonderful if I could secure a digital video camera and tripod to document student learning and execution of choreography at each grade level. A secure carrying case would be an added benefit in protecting the equipment. The camera and accessories would be an asset to the school and I would share this resource with the music and classroom teachers in an effort to strengthen our professional bond and build a stronger community.
