I teach 40 Pre-K students in a high needs school. I have several ELL (English Language Learner) students.

My students love to play and to pretend. I have limited resources for my students to use as they pretend to be mommies and daddies, doctors, vets, postal workers and other community helpers.

My students play at centers every day. They need baby dolls and a high chair so they can pretend to be mommies and daddies. With the dr. and vet kit, they can pretend to take care of patients and animals. The mailbox and post office can be used to make a school post office. The appliances and play food can be used in the house center and the groceries can go in the shopping cart. Students can pretend to be different community helpers with the cars and the play carpet. Play is the work of children and my children work hard!!! While they are playing, they are learning social skills, improving language skills building vocabulary and having fun.
