Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am an inner city fourth grade teacher of all subjects. We are located in a high-need community with few resources. Our school is partnering with the community in order to help all students succeed. Right now, we are focusing on connecting our Science and Social Studies themes through literature.

The fourth grade team has worked diligently to create new long-term themes in order to educate students about the Arctic and Antarctica. The Magic Tree House series, which is popular among my students, recently published books on these topics. Sadly, the school does not have the funds available to purchase these materials for our students.

I am hoping that the purchase of these books help hook my students into the science theme of the Arctic. I am hoping that by connecting science and reading through these books, that my students have a better rounded understanding of the concepts.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity to read authentic literature that connects to our science theme. By doing this, we will be able to enhance student learning of the Arctic and Antarctica.
