Family Game Night

My students need a variety of fun yet educational board games such as BrainQuest, Scrabble, and Guess Who?.

Family lovers! That's who my students are this year. They love their families and talk about them constantly. My third grade language arts and social studies students attend a high-need Title I school. We are a very diverse population ethnically and socially. We are focused on increased rigor to meet all our goals this year. We are located in eastern North Carolina in a county that has been hit hard by the economic slump that is also touching our nation. Our students and parents are proud but willing to do what they need to help their children be successful.

Our parents concentrate most on providing the basics. They struggle many times with how to provide positive, educational family fun that is inexpensive for their children. What better way than to provide it for them--free!

Why not offer a board game lending library for the parents and students? These games will be full of fun but also have a little (or a lot of) learning mixed in. They are free, educational and will provide hours of learning, excitement, and entertainment for the students and their families. We can have a "Board Game" kick off afternoon, where the parents and students come to the class to enjoy playing the games and learning the specifics of checkouts. Then the parents just have to take home the checkout list. Next, the parents can stop by the classroom or send a note or email to check out a game. They can enjoy that game for the weekend or even during a school week. Once they have borrowed a game for the pre-determined time, they will return it for another family to enjoy.

Your generous donations will make it possible for us to have a large selection of games available for the parents to choose from. Your donations will also make it possible for more fortunate parents to donate games to us for use in our Board Game Lending Library. Without you Family Game Night will not be so much Fun!
