Listening To And Loving Books And Reading

My students need a listening center that will allow them to listen to fun and interesting stories and follow along in a book.

I teach first grade in a diverse class of twenty four little learners who love to and need to read and hear stories in order to develop a necessary love of reading.

We have a tape player in our classroom however very few books come on tape anymore. Our school is unable to provide a cd player for our classroom that will open up a broad range of books on cd to the students in my class.

We are in desperate need of a cd player with headphones so that our class can listen to and read along with stories that encourage their love of reading. Listening to stories aides in fluency, comprehension, voice, and many other important reading skills.

Your help will make it possible for my students to have a wider variety of listening opportunities. It will make it possible for me to offer them choices of stories that will increase their love of reading. First grade is an essential time for young children to develop a love of and a confidence in their reading abilities.
