Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third grade teacher working in a Title One school. Most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Parent involvement is limited.

Most of my students enter third grade with a limited understanding of place value. At this time, my class lacks the appropriate tools, manipulatives, to overcome this limitation.

Cuisenaire Rods are a versatile set of math manipulatives that can be used to establish a greater understanding of many math concepts. These rods can be used for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions. These rods allow for a hands-on approach to math, which many math scholars agree is the foundation of understanding.

By putting Cuisenaire Rods in my students' hands, you will make it possible for them to overcome their limited understanding of mathematical concepts.
