My students need 5 sizes of styrofoam balls, 6 colors of tempera paints, and 40 brushes to assemble hands-on models of the solar system. We hope to teach them that there is much more beyond our urban confines.

We are a charter school in the heart of a tough, urban area. The students that would be completing this project are in 5th grade and in their final year with us. We strive to be part of this community and to make a positive impact on students. The area has a lot of crime and high rates of poverty. We want the kids to have a safe, exciting learning community in our school.

We have no supplies for this topic and our school is in debt from the previous administration. We want the kids to gain the knowledge through hands-on projects and learn more about the solar system.

We plan on exploring the stars and planets to help build our students' love of science. We want to use the materials to build hands-on models as the culmination of their last unit in science before they graduate.

You will help our students explore something they are unaware of and will help build new knowledge. Hopefully we will inspire the next Guion Bluford.
