Class Set of Books for Novel Studies

My students need 24 copies of the classic children's books "Max Malone Makes a Million", and "Sideways Stories from Wayside School".

I teach third grade at a struggling, low socio-economic status elementary school. I became a teacher through the program Teach For America, which hires recent college graduates to help close the achievement gap in under-privileged schools. I completed my two years with Teach For America, and continued on teaching at the same school because I fell in love with the students and the community.

Our school qualified for Title I moneys last year, but our free and reduced lunch numbers were 1% point from receiving the moneys this year. As such, we do not have the funds to get many supplies our students need. In addition to being under-resourced, many students to not have the luxury of parents at home to read classic children's literature with them.

As such, I've enjoyed doing novel studies with my third graders, so they have a chance to experience classic American children's literature, and enjoy it! Our school does not have many class sets of books. I would like to have novels which match the theme of our units covered in third grade.

Please help support these children in the chance to experience what other, more privileged elementary children may be experiencing at their schools. Please help develop the education and the minds of our future generation, so that a gap of knowledge does NOT exist as early as elementary school, but children in all schools regardless of socio-economic status, can experience the same education.
