"Please help my talented poetry students understand other cultures through this wonderful book of poetry from the Middle East. I teach high school in a low-income public magnet school. My poetry class is a group of students who are insightful, thoughtful, and talented who face the hindrance of poverty.

My poetry students are very creative individuals who have amazing stories to tell. We experement with many different forms of writing poetry, and analyze a variety of different poetic forms from sonnets to rap songs. Unfortunately, my students come from a lower socioeconomic class, and cannot afford to buy the materials they need to enhance their learning. It is so important to learn about other cultures at this time in life in order to develop an understanding and acceptance of different lives.

In order to enhance this learning and acceptance, I have found a beautiful book of poetry written by a woman from the Middle East. This book is insightful, full of lush imagery, and encapsulates a world that most of my students are not familiar with. This book would help my students understand some of the complexities that lie in our Middle Eastern connections, and hopefully will help them understand why acceptance of other cultures is imperative in creating a more tolerant world.

Your help will enable my students to experience the joy of new materials that have been unavailable to them, enjoy a perspective that they are unfamiliar with, and acquire an understanding of a different world. This book will be an amazing addition to our poetry repertoire, as well as help my students be more sympathetic adults.

My poetry students need 20 copies of the book "19 Varieties of Gazelle."

Dear Cash4Books.net and Catherine,
I was so pleased to learn that my proposal had been funded. Thank you so much! I am truly looking forward to exploring this poetry with my class and hearing the wonderful discussions this book will provoke. This is a topic often overlooked, and instead of learning the truth about our friends and family from the Middle East, we tend to buy in to the stereotypes presented to us by the media and propaganda. It will be refreshing to hear the point of view of someone who has lived a life there. Your kindness will make this happen. Your generosity means a lot to me and my students, and I thank you for that.

Sincerely
Daniale
