I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade flute, saxophone, and percussion during the school day, and I teach percussion at the High School level before and after school. Our school music faculty is looking to expand the skills and heighten the experience of our percussionists within the department's curriculum.

As developing musicians, percussionists need to be able listen to and experience distinctive sounds on their instruments. However, due to some students limited skill sets, they cannot always produce a mature, quality sound and accurate performance on their instrument. We are looking for consistent exposure of premium percussion sounds for our students in order to expose them to the highest levels of accuracy they can achieve.

We are seeking a generous donation to acquire a percussion music writing software to use in the classroom during class and to create listening examples for students to use at home. The specific type of software we are looking for has real-life sampled sounds from expert players on all common percussion instruments. This would enable teachers to write music that sounds like real life instruments on the computer, avoiding the typical electronic duplications of instrument sounds used in older music software. Students would then be able to use the music written on the program as part of their daily practice both in school and at home. They would have consistent exposure to recordings that would enable them to produce a performance that would be, on the computer, regarded as "perfect!"

Your involvement in this project would empower and inspire students from grades 6-12 in our school district, and have an immediate impact on the atmosphere of the classroom and the atmosphere of how percussionists are practicing at home. Being able to combine real-life sounds with the perfection and accuracy from the computer would enable students to mimic and learn from the best possible source outside of their instructor in school. The magnitude of this project would be felt both immediately and for many years down the road as new students become involved.
