Preserving Nature Through Digital Lenses

My students need 1 Easy Share Digital Camera and Printer Dock Bundle, a digital memory card, and Kodak Photo paper with a Color Cartridge Kit.

I teach in a rural area. The students are from an area of high needs and 70%-80% of the students are on free or reduced lunches. However, the rural area has an abundance of nature to offer students. I have taught that if we bring real life samples of what nature has to offer into the classroom many of the nature species will become extinct.

Nature may be preserved through digital lenses. To solve this dilemma I am proposing a project that involves nature walks and taking pictures of the species. Parents will also be invited on our walks with the students. Students will then make a scrapbook using their pictures through technology and reference books. Through the use of the cameras the students will preserve nature and have many species in pictures to study. Living in a rural area students will be able to identify the nature all around them.

To fulfill this project I will need 2 cameras, a printing dock, paper and ink. The students will benefit from basic reference skills and identifying various species in their school area. Through scrap-booking the pictures will be preserved for our class and future students.

Donors who love the outdoors such as the hunters and those who ride the bike trails know that nature has a lot to offer. Students and future hunters and bike riders will enjoy their experience more if they can identify with nature. Your donation will help students experience an opportunity that is not offered in their regular day at school through books. The students are also help preserve the things in nature. Students will get to experience technology of developing and printing their pictures. In the end they can say, "I helped preserve nature."
