"I am director of technology within my school district. We service students who are critically ill, the traumatic brain injured, cancer and heart patients, as well as students that are physically disabled purchased within
My school district is suffering through severe financial constraints. Any supplies that are obtained come from donations only. I do not have a budget. Thus I borrow and beg from anyone I can.
These students are disabled children who need adaptive toys to play with like any other child. These toys will be part of a toy library in which parents, students, and staff may borrow at any time. All of these toys are special because they can be activated by a single large button or switch, in which a child can control with just a single movement. The toys I am looking to purchase are a boom box for older students, and a remote control puppy, chicken and zebra for younger students.
These students desperately need toys to play with. They need to have the same simple opportunities as regular disabled kids. Their families have suffered enough even in these economic times. Some of these students are terminal and suffer through pain each and everyday. A toy can at least distract a child from a medical procedure and make it more tolerable. Please help and put a smile on a child's face
My disabled students need an adaptive toy library so that these students as a well as their parents can interact with toys like normal kids do.

Dear Caroline and Teri,
Thank you so much for your generous donations. It has really made a dream of mine to come true. With your help we now have a toy library for patients/students and their families. Already many of the toys have been borrowed for a period of time by either the students teachers or parents. This is becoming a popular service in which my students greatly enjoy.
Many of the students ar using the toys during recess and after school. They are also being used in therapy. One of the most popular toy is the boom box. So often we do not have age appropriate devices for the older students to enjoy. This is definitely fulfilling a great need.
I hope this program will continue to grow so that all children will have a chance to play like normal children do. As an off shoot of this program we are also looking into adapting some other popular toys like Guitar Hero so that they too can be accessible for all students.
Thank you again for giving joy to my students and for students to come
With gratitude, Mr. D.

Dear Caroline and Teri,
Thank you so much for funding this worthy project. Adaptive toys are hard to find and fund. I just wish you could see the joy of these children's faces. It is truly a special moment when you can see a child's face light up when they continue to suffer through a life threatening disease. Thank you for setting an example for the rest of us to follow. I can not say how thankful I am. My students' families and my students thank you.
Reviewed the project essay and sent follow-up questions if needed.

"Hello from ThinkGeek.com! We decided we'd like to give $500 on DonorsChoose.org in honor of Valentine's Day, to show a little geek love, and asked our friends who they'd like to see us support. We got over 400 votes and your classroom was chosen as one they'd like to see us help.
Best wishes and lots of geeky good vibes,
