Flashing Back into South Carolina History!

Help us to "FREEZE FRAME" our learning! I teach third grade students in a high poverty area. More than 95% of my students receive free or reduced price lunches.

Many of the third graders have never been outside of our city limits, much less to the beach. This year, we are going to change that! Our whole grade will take a trip to a historical beach-side city to learn about the history of our state and to see the ocean for the first time. Our students are very excited about this trip and are working to hard save money so they can attend. On top of that, we are working to get donations from sponsors to help our students who cannot afford to go. Unfortunately, many of our parents are not going to be able to take this trip with us. They are not going to be able to see their child's eyes light up when they see pirate reenactments, old slave quarters, or the ocean for the first time.

This is where you come in! Help us to purchase a digital camera and printer to capture all of the great learning that will take place on this trip. Our students' parents will get to see the excitement on their child's face throughout the whole trip. With the printer, we will be able to print out most of the pictures we take and send them home to students.

Can you imagine the joy of a student running home waving a picture of themselves in front of a shark? What about holding a sea shell for the first time? Could you see the parent's excitement as the student brings them a picture they can keep forever as they posed in front of an old plantation house? Your donation could do just that and more for all of my students. You will make it possible for them to have their own memento of a trip that they can keep for a lifetime.
