Hi, I teach first grade in Brooklyn, New York. Our school is a title 1 school and most of our students receive free lunch. As a school, everyone has worked extremely hard to ensure that the students learn everything they need to each year. Each year, we get better and better.

The problem is that with budget cuts my students no longer get time to enjoy art and create things. This is extremely important for first graders. There is just no money to order art supplies in our school for this to occur.

With the supplies that I have asked for, my students will be able to enjoy art and broaden their imaginations. They need this time to learn how to express themselves through different art activities. Paints in primary colors, finger paints, also in primary colors, special art paper that you can use paints on, special scratch paper to make pictures from, sun catchers to paint, collage materials like eyes, macaroni, crinkly hair, buttons, flowers, puppets and special people to make collages and broaden their artistic abilities.

I know that it takes a very special person to supply these things to children they don't know. Please be that person and help city kids express themselves through art.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
