Bonjour and Howdy, what are we missing?

My students need multicultural dolls, puppets, and play food assortments to give them background knowledge of different cultures because of the diversity of our classroom.

Bonjour and howdy from my pre-k classroom of diverse ethnic groups and wide variety of disabilities. Our school is in a rural area of Virginia with about 500 students. We serve pre-k through second grade. Over half our students get free or reduced meals. Our parents struggle to feed and clothe their children because of the number of factories that have closed and moved overseas.

Our pre-k class is an inclusion classroom. We have different ethnic backgrounds and disabilities, but we lack the resources to learn about those differences.

We have asked for multicultural dolls and play food assortments so that we can begin to understand the differences in our backgrounds. The students will benefit from these multicultural toys because this will help students from different ethnic backgrounds begin to play with items that are familiar to them.

Our world is constantly changing and this is our opportunity to offer students at age 4 the chance to explore different cultures. We can make this possible with your donations.
