Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second grade teacher at an inner city school. I have 27 students who are eager to learn and love to take advantage of any learning tools they are given.

In my classroom my students desks are pushed together in four groups. I truly believe children learn from each other just as much as they learn from us. When we work together the seating arrangement works perfectly, however when it is test time or independent work time I have my students move their desk into rows. I find that they are moving their desks on average two times a day. I feel it is wasting their precious learning time and have come up with a solution!

As I was searching online, I came across an item that would work perfectly in my situation. They are called Portable Privacy Shields! Privacy shields help everyone keep their eyes on their work and their attention focused where you want it. I can easily see over them to check students as they work, but they cant see the work of others. We will be able to use them on group tables, in literacy centers, or for independent work. Having the privacy shields would maximize student-learning interest and maintain the students' attention and focus.
