I am currently teaching at an elementary school in North Carolina. I am requesting an Elmo camera to use with a screen to magnify small objects such as math manipulatives, science instruments, student work, and social studies primary source documents.

ELMO is no longer a cute puppet, but a classroom tool that will change the way teachers make presentations. The ELMO Digital Processing Visualizer allows me to place a book or page directly onto a screen and, without Xeroxing or writing out text on a transparency, show the students the book or page projected onto the wall. With this machine, I could not only show pages from books, but I could put a student's essay on the projector and right there, in the immediacy of the moment, teach reading and writing skills.

During our weather unit, our school has instruments such as barometers and thermometers that can be easily seen with the help of the ELMO. In Math, when we show our problem solving workbooks, we can learn from seeing each others work. Mathematics would take on a whole new dimension if only I could use an ELMO. Wouldn't it be awesome for the class to be able to see the demonstration of the lesson before starting the exploration? Technology plays a major role in my classroom. I try to have everyone do research and PowerPoint presentations on our computer. How outrageous would it be for an eight year old to be able to see their work projected onto a big screen?

There are numerous reasons an Elmo would benefit my students. Every one of these reasons simply means a better educational experience for my students. Please consider donating this equipment to enhance this student's learning experience. Thank you so much for your consideration of this request. My project needs an ELMO video presentation camera.
