I am a literacy coach at a K-5 campus of 605 students. I am requesting materials that will be shared by 13 classrooms from K-2.

We don't have mentor texts from published authors to support the teachers in writer's workshop. These books would help motivate our students.

The books I have requested will be used by the teachers in K-2 during writer's workshop. It is powerful to show students examples of good leads, focused stories, writing with details, use of dialogue, poetic language, and repetition from authentic authors who have published quality literature. These examples bring our writing workshop "alive" and inspire the students. After the teachers have shared the books, the students will have opportunities to revisit and read the books on their own.

Your generous donation of these books will make it possible for our teachers to inspire students to "write like real writers" as they learn the craft of writing.
