Guiding Readers Into The Future

My students need 6 copies each of 11 book titles, from "Clementine" to "A Picture Book of Martin Luther King, Jr.", with a set of comprehension quickies card boxes and comprehension supplies.

I teach a class of vibrant, eager 3rd graders with a diverse range of abilities at a newly opened school.

Being at a new school has its advantages, like a facility outfitted with all the latest technology, but it comes with its drawbacks, too. Since we haven't had years to accumulate resources, we are getting by with minimal resources this year. Our guided reading collections are non-existent.

Differentiated instruction is a big part of our reading plan, but to effectively reach all levels of readers, I need collections of books at different reading levels, as well as supplemental materials to help teach specific reading skills, like identifying main idea or sequencing events. Many of the books I've selected will do double duty, too, by reinforcing and supplementing concepts taught in our Science and Social Studies curriculum.

You can help me meet the needs of all of my students by providing materials that will allow me to tailor instruction to individual needs. By providing guided reading materials, your donation will put my students further down the path to their futures as successful readers.
