I teach at a rural high school in North Carolina where I teach Biology, Earth Science and Physical Science at a very low income school.

At the beginning of the year I assessed my students' reading levels and found that my high school students have the average literacy skills of elementary students. Although I have come up with creative ways to challenge my students and help them master science standards I need a bigger fix!!!!

I am asking for a class set subscription of Current Science. If you are not familiar with this magazine, it represents current science issues which are written on a level that students can truly comprehend the information and apply it in the classroom. My hope is that by implementing weekly reading of Current Science articles my students will not only have a deeper understanding of science issues facing our world but also increased literacy skills which will improve their performance in subjects across the curriculum.

In a country that is facing many issues I truly hope that you will be able to make a small sacrifice to help the students that will soon become the future of our nation. Thank you so much for your consideration!
