Family Reading Night 2

My students need multiple copies of 18 books for Family Reading Night.

This project is for all students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through seventh grade. Our school is an urban elementary/middle school in a high poverty area.

Many homes have few or no books for students to read. Many parents don't take their children to the library for lack of transportation, the nearest branch in walking distance closed last year. Parents may also be unsure how to use the books for literacy development.

We will hold our first Family Reading Night. Parents and students will be invited to attend and will hear stories read by guest readers, do activities related to each book after reading, have snacks, receive a free book and trade a gently used book for a new one.

You will make it possible for each child to have at least one new book to keep for themselves and help to foster a love of reading for pleasure.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
