Step Up to the Mic: A Digital Recorder for Podcasting

My students need a way to record interviews for a podcasting project with a digital voice recorder. We are using editing software on laptops, so we need to record to flash memory, not to audio tape.

We are a small school in western Maine with big aspirations. Anything is possible in my classroom - from research projects to the Antarctic, to radio programs which share information about books and writing.

Beyond simple reading and writing, the 21st century classroom also needs to teach students how to use technology and how to do podcasting. This project will allow students to share impressions about their free reading book with students, parents and teachers through podcasts that people can listen to.

Podcasting requires three components - a way to record sound to a flash memory device, editing software, and a way to share the sound files that are created. We have the editing software and the MP3 players for students to use. Now we need a way to record sounds from interviews and audio expeditions through a digital voice recorder.
