My students need phonics puzzles, vowel teaching tubs, and 5 sets of quiz cards with Hot Dots pens.

First, I would like to "Thank you" for taking the time out of your busy schedule and wanting to help out a class in need. I have students in First Grade who still do not know their letters or sound of letters. My school does try to help with resources, but the correct resources are not in our budget for our students. We have a high-need community and many of the parents try but it is very difficult to provide everything for their children and believe me, the teachers at my school, here in Virginia, truly do our best.

Our students come to school with limited school supplies. I have a students in my class now, who still do not have a pencil box, and only brought in one box of crayons for the year. On the other hand, most of them have a wonderful appetite for learning. Most of them love television or video games.

This is where I need your assistance. My students love video games and television, and I want to feed into that with "Hot Dots". Those powerful pens have sound effects and when they touch the correct answer, it has the sound of a video game. If the answer is incorrect it gives them a sound of try again. The other resources are vowel tubs. This will engage their senses of touch, seeing, and hearing. The puzzles are another game that will stimulate their minds to think critically about what needs to happen next to the word. They will also need to say it and see the letters together. This will help the students to be more successful in Reading and they will have confidence in themselves, because now they can read and no one can ever take that power away from them.

Your help will ensure that my students, the future of our country, will not grow up illiterate, but proud and powerful young men and women who will never forget that someone like you is out in the world, willing to give a helping hand to ensure that he/she will have a chance in life.
