My students need basic school supplies, such as pencils, erasers, markers, clip boards, and a pencil sharpener. Although these supplies seem minimal, they are the tools that my students are unable to purchase but need to succeed.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"Can I borrow a pencil?" Everyday my students ask me this and unless I personally go out and purchase pencils, my students will not have a writing utensil. I am a 3rd and 4th grade literacy teacher in an urban low income school in Maryland.

My students come to school with 2 pencils at the beginning of the year and are unable to bring in any more. Pencils are very minimal, but without them my students are unable to complete any work. I am also asking for other school supplies that will help my students succeed in the classroom. I am asking for clip boards so that my students are able to sit on the carpet and listen to a story while taking notes. The clipboards will allow the students to feel like reporters and that their jobs as students are just as important reporters.

I am also requesting a pencil sharpener that will be able to withstand the everyday use that is needed with little kids. These items are very basic, but after a while of purchasing them multiple times a year, it can become quite expensive.

With your donation, my students will have the basic supplies that all students are required to have. You will give my students the power to write, write, write until their hands fall off!
