I teach kindergarten children, 65% of whom receive a free or reduced lunch. I have a very diverse group of kids who keep me on my toes. I do not wish to label my children because I look at them as being equal in all aspects. It is a challenge to ensure that I reach each both academically and socially. I have a love for science and appreciate nature and all the natural resources that surround us all. I have found that when one is excited about simple pleasures in our environment, that it spills over into the concepts that I am teaching and the children become excited and concerned in so many things that we use each and every day that are taken for granted. My little ones may be babies and naive, but they are inquisitive about the world that surrounds them. I feel that this generation will be the one that will have the biggest impact on turning our environment around. It has been my generation that has been blind to the environment, unaware about what harm they are doing to it, especially our water resources. I do not have a working computer in my classroom. With help from a donor, I wish to purchase a laptop that will allow my children to take virtual field trips on topics about safe water, water conservation, and watershed protection. My children will be able to visit areas via the Internet, which will give them vital information on watershed conservation. They will learn about abuse that has placed our water supply in danger, which has impacted our environment and all living things that require water for survival. The children will not only visibly see the negative impact that poor management and carelessness has had upon our water resources, but will be able to see what is being done to promote water stewardship. Through your gracious donation, these little ones will gain valuable information that will have a positive impact on the future of our clean water supply. They will be the ones who will fight to restore and maintain our nation’s valuable water resources. My children and the environment will benefit from the learning resources that will be made available to them through the use of a laptop.
