Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My third grade students are the true meaning of diverse. The children represent many races, languages, socioeconomic levels,and cultures. Our school is designated as a "low income school" however we are committed to providing the highest level of cutting-edge education possible as outlined in our district strategic plan.

Today, technology is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity if we want to prepare students for the future. Every year it takes more to keep students' interests piqued and engaged in learning. The ELMO will keep students on their toes and engaged because we can share instantly. Education can no longer afford to lag behind technologically. It is our job to make sure our kids can compete in a world dependent on technology.

The ELMO provides a way for the students and me to share information instantly. By placing students’ work underneath the ELMO the rest of the class can benefit from seeing their classmates' ideas projected largely on the board. We can project story book pages, three dimensional objects, pictures, etc… In addition, if these images are projected onto a white board, students can “write” on the images to enhance them. This is will dramatically enhance learning because we will be able to share instantly. The ELMO has so many uses that it can be used everyday in different ways!

Though this is an expensive piece of technology it will benefit hundreds of children for years to come. As it is a portable machine, many teachers can share it and use in in their own classrooms. Finally, in a world where we communicate instantly through e-mails, cell phone calls, text messages, etc...our schools must follow suit. Help bring our schools into the 21st century and prepare our youth for the future!
