ELMO Visual Presentation Device Needed

Books are better when everyone can see them! I am looking for a way to better involve my students in literacy through the use of an ELMO projector. This technology allows me to transmit paper-based mediums through a projector to reach a wider group of students. I teach fifth grade and have a class that is quite large. There are 31 students in my self-contained classroom. I teach all core subjects as well as a recorder music class. The school serves a student population, which resides near the school and some students who drive some distance to be a part of the quality education provided here.

I have great students, however, my challenge is the extremely large class size. This challenge makes it difficult to ensure that each student has the educative experience they deserve. They love to create and share self-made projects. They also love to have "read-aloud" time where I read to them from a chapter book and model good critical thinking process. The size of the class can make it very trying for all students to be able to see the presentation. When a document or project is enlarged, the ability for all to participate is increased.

The Elmo Document Imaging device will greatly aid me in creating more interesting presentations that will engage students. They will be able to see the pictures of a book more easily, which will cause them to be more engaged in the learning process. This technology will allow me to transmit the image of my modeling of mathematical problem solving to a wide audience ensuring that all students will be able to effectively see the various problem solving strategies I am teaching. If I am using base-10 blocks the student will see how I can group them together to form numbers. The students will be able to see through my fraction strips how various fractions are equal to one another! I can also demonstrate how to find key words and phrases in a language arts passage, which will help them to understand how events are related!

In helping to fund this project, you will be helping me to reach a variety of cognitive needs simultaneously. All students will have the opportunity to clearly visualize concepts as they are presented. This technology can make an abstract idea become clear and relevant through expanding the size of what I am demonstrating. Students will also be able to present their work to a wider audience. They will be able to demonstrate their understanding and model great learning strategies for their peers through utilizing the ELMO. This device will be used on a daily basis and will help me to effectively address any curricular area!
