Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I have a lively group of 27 kindergarten students. We are a title I school. All of my students are on reduced or free lunch.

My students have shown a great interest in bugs and animals. The life cycle of things interest them very much. They are constantly asking questions about different kinds of animals, bugs, and insects. We don't have the space or equipment to house big animals to show them the life cycle. So I decided to teach them the life cycle of smaller animals, insects, and bugs. I think that if the students can see how the bugs and animals life starts, they will respect and take care of them better.

The best way to teach my students about the life cycle is to let them see and have eyes on experience. They will be able to see the frog, the butterfly, the chick, the ladybug, and the hermit crab develop and grow. I think that seeing this life cycle happen will stay with the students for a long time. They will be able to watch them grow and to help take care of them.
