Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach special needs preschool. Our students are three and four years old. We are in a Title One school, where language creates a huge barrier.

The previous sand/water table we had sprung a leak and we are out of luck for the year without your help. This table would help each student differently. We have some students with sensory difficulties, we have some with behavior issues that would love this as a reward and we also have students with vision difficulties that love to play in water and sand. Using the table we can teach skills and vocabulary for the week’s theme. Sand/water tables help incorporate elements from the everyday world that our students sometimes miss.

Using the sand/water table we can hide objects related to vocabulary and create moments to encourage language skills. We can show science lessons using water colors, sand molds, pretend snow and much more. The water/sand table can teach the students to take turns and follow the rules.

You can fix it Dear Johnny! Our kids can enjoy and learn so much from the benefits of a water/sand table. We have so many sad toys that were used with our old table, that need a new place to call home!
