Zeek Needs a Bigger Home!

Our 7th grade life science class recently adopted a bearded dragon in need of a home. Most importantly, students absolutely love him and he adds to our classroom environment. But students will also explore Zeek's adaptations to his environment, his basic needs, his position in the food chain, and more throughout the year. Not to mention they are quickly learning about responsibility. However, the tank he came with is too small and cracked. So please help us remodel his habitat with a 55 gallon aquarium!

Please help us give Zeek a permanent home in our 7th grade Life Science class! Zeek is a two-year old Bearded dragon who came to us from an owner who could no longer meet his needs. Before that, he belonged to a couple who did not realize he needed calcium supplements and therefore had broken almost every bone in his two forelimbs by the time he was taken to the vet. Now that he's landed in our hands, we want to take care of him and get him settled into a permanent home since he has many more years left to live!

Zeek the Bearded dragon has been an enormous addition to our classroom! But his needs are costly. He came with a 20-gallon tank, cracked and held together by tape, but now he is getting too big (must be all those crickets!). Since he is in a life science class, he easily fits into our curriculum. So, I find him to be both academically and personally rewarding for my students. But, his food and lighting costs leave no money to purchase him a new tank. However, he will need one in order to remain a classmate.

By giving to this project, you will allow 200+ seventh grade students per year for approximately the next five years experience all that Zeek has to offer, both personally and academically! Since he is in a life science classroom, we easily fit him into our curriculum as we discuss animal adaptations, basic needs, food webs, and more. We've got the lighting, food, habitat plants, and sunning rock covered. But we need your help in obtaining a larger tank for him to live in.

Your help will ensure that Zeek remains an integral part of our classroom environment. He needs a permanent home and we hope to keep him! Please support us in this mission!!
