I am a Title 1 reading teacher in an inner city school with a high needs population. My work is usually exhausting, sometimes frustrating, but always rewarding. I serve small groups of at-risk students each day that need extra help in reading and language arts.

My students always show a great interest in the literacy corner of my classroom. There they can find grade-appropriate reader's theater scripts, monologues, poems, tongue twisters, and various binders full of fun things to read aloud. As the year progresses and their fluency increases, they always show a desire to present their practiced oral skills to me or to their peers. They stand up and read and wait eagerly for their audience to approve of their newfound skill.

Since I serve approximately sixty students per day this has the potential for a lot of use. This podium would be on wheels allowing us to share it with other classrooms when they had important presentations as well. The podium would also be a wonderful resource for our entire school to share--easily moved to the Media Center or Gymnasium when there was a need. Your donation would excite all my Title 1 students and encourage them to perfect the organization and delivery of their oral communication skills.
