Bring Literature to Life for the Visual Learner. I teach Junior and Senior English at a rural high school. Literature is accessible to the visual learner when they are visually stimulated through PowerPoint presentations and graphics.

I purchased a wireless Interwrite pad with my teaching stipend to incorporate more maps, graphs and visuals into the curriculum, but I need a projector to run it from.

With an LCD projector I can put up a PowerPoint or show a video on the LCD and use the pad to mark directly on the PowerPoint or video - highlight key points or focus on words or phrases, dissect prose or poetry, etc. The pads can even capture everything I do and make a movie out of it to show the next class or a student who was absent. I can also post these to my class website.

Many of our students are from the local farming community, who are tactile and visual learners. Textbooks are not a viable means to reach these students. They need to be engaged in literature through visual stimuli to maintain their interest and capitalize on their learning.
