Help us get The Chocolate Touch

My students need 30 copies of "The Chocolate Touch" and "The Stories Julian Tells", along with 5 copies of "More Stories Julian Tells", and "The Stories Huey Tells".

I teach a large group of energetic third-graders on the south side of Chicago. They love to read, but, much to my horror, motivation has been dwindling as the year progresses! What is a teacher to do?

I asked my kids what was going on. How could a class of readers express such dissatisfaction with reading? The students told me that it was because our reading curriculum is not very exciting. The books are old, falling apart, and not about high interest subjects. After further discussion with the class about how to make reading more interesting, it was unanimous: we need to read chapter books in addition to our curriculum.

I agree with them. Some of our huge goals for third grade include students now read for enjoyment, read independently, and read for longer periods of time. Having 2 class sets of exciting new novels will help us accomplish this.

You can help my students love to read again, and meet the ambitious goals of third grade! With 2 class sets of novels, the students can be immersed in fun literature while learning important comprehension skills to supplement the current curriculum. These sets can be used with next year's 3rd grade as well! I chose "The Chocolate Touch" and "Stories Julian Tells" for their humor, intelligence, and interest to my class. Thank you so much for your help.
