"Image walking through a living museum of the Lewis and Clark tribe made by 5th graders. I am the 5th grade science teacher at a gifted and talented school. The students I teach are extremely motivated to create amazing things. The adventures of Lewis and Clark would intrigue them for many years to come and this book is the best way to get them interested.
With these books, the students would create a museum about every leg of their journey. They will read and interpret excerpts from Lewis' journals, track the numbers of kilometers the tribe traveled, discuss the geography of the terrain, discover all the new animals they found along the way, and anything else the students find interesting. The music teacher will also put on a play about Lewis and Clark which they will perform at the end of the book. The entire school will enjoy the museum and the play. Every student will need a novel to read with in class and even at home. The books with the excerpts of the journals will be extremely helpful for finding the wording and the actual thoughts of Lewis and Clark. You will make it possible for the students to create something amazing. This will be something that the students will never forget. This will inspire them to learn more history through books, science, math, and music. My students need 30 copies of the book, "Captain's Dog: My Journey with the Lewis and Clark Tribe," with 5 other Lewis and Clark books.
