Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I'm a teacher of a dynamic, engaged, and hardworking bunch of first graders who love to learn. Most of my students live below the poverty line and half of them are English Language Learners. Most of these students have few enriching materials at home and I try my best to supplement at school. I want to create a warm and loving learning environment full of resources and supplies that motivate and stimulate them. Many of the quieter and struggling students often don't get their voices heard in an ordinary class. They need an opportunity to answer a teacher's questions in a non-threatening and encouraging way. These students that come to school every day need to be heard. I want to expose them to information that helps them learn about their world around them. I want them to have an opportunity to demonstrate what they've learned and all they know. But I'd like your help. Imagine all 24 of these students having their voices heard, with the opportunity to answer every single question I ask. This is possible with a technology voting system linked with a computer and whiteboard. Together, as a caring classroom community, questions asked in the classroom can be answered by every single student on a motivating and easy to use voting system - perfect for even the quietest and most timid of children. All I need to do all this is a donation from you that will provide my students with a voting system that can be connected to our whiteboard and computer. The students will be able to use this voting system to graph results on their favorite insect, assess their understanding of an insect's life cycle, and compare their interests to their peers. Every lesson is easily enriched with this amazing technology piece! This will promote a caring class community while providing all students with priceless learning opportunities.
