My students love school and are eager to use the dramatic play furniture in the classroom, but we do not have any supplies. I teach 23 five year olds in my kindergarten classroom and dramatic play is vital to developing language and social skills. My school serves students who are mainly on the free lunch program.

My students are at risk of not graduating beyond the eighth grade. It is vital that my kindergarteners have an excellent early education in order to be successful later in school. We have dramatic play furniture such as a kitchen, but we do not have any materials to put in with the furniture, thus it is sitting unused.

Once we have some play food, plates and dishes, and a baby, our students can begin using our dramatic play area. This educational piece helps students develop language, social skills, and turn taking. In addition, students explore their sense of self by pretending to be various people with the dress up materials. This has always been a favorite area in the other schools I have taught in, and I hope to make this become possible with my new students.

You will make it possible for our dramatic play center to come alive and be used by my 23 eager five year olds.
