Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a low-income, very culturally diverse neighborhood in New York. My kids come from countries such as Colombia, Bangladesh, China, Equador, Mexico, and Thailand. I teach a 5th grade special education inclusion class full of 29 eager learners.

My kids would love a clean carpet to sit on during our lessons. Students often develop rashes and bites after sitting on our current carpet, which makes our classroom an uncomfortable learning environment. I want them to feel at home in our classroom and not be distracted by the physical environment while trying to learn.

My 5th graders need a clean and comfortable new carpet! It would be so beneficial to have a clean spot they can sit down on during the lesson or while getting lost in a great book or writing an exciting story.

Any help would really improve the physical quality of my classroom, which is the first step in creating a successful learning environment. If my students feel safe and invited in our room, they will be more eager to learn and engage themselves in the lesson.
