We are an inner- city New York school who is starting on the right path of technology. We currently do not offer music to our students and therefore need to have, at the very least, portable players so that the teachers could have the ability to introduce our students to a variety of musical genres.

No Music classes for our students!!!! We are located in an inner city school where our outlets for creativity are limited. We have no music teacher, and most classrooms do not even have radios. This is an outrage. I know that music was a positive influence on me when i was growing up and I want the same for the students at my school. Please help!!!

My first plan of action with the donations is to start a basic music appreciation for the lower grades. First unit of study would be Abba. Then I would continue down the alphabet. It would be a unique phonics approach that would use the lyrics and different genres of the music to help educate our students. From there, in collaboration with the computer and art teachers, we could have the students design their own original album covers inspired by the music, while learning the importance of the alphabet and phonemic awareness. With the 4 ipods and 4 speakers I am requesting this will give my school the ability to introduce our students to music.
