I teach first grade in an Equity Plus /Title I school. We are a magnet school for the arts.

My students are extremely interested in technology. Recently, we have been discussing photography, and they have showed a great deal of interest in taking pictures. Many of them do not have cameras at home. Technology is moving so fast in this day and age. Students want and NEED to be engaged in the 21st century.

I would like for each of my students to have a digital camera to use at home and at school. My students are beginning to struggle for ideas in their writing. When they take a picture and print it, they will have something fun and interesting to write about! It will also teach them how each person sees something differently. Many of my students attend this school because it is geared towards the arts. With the aid of digital cameras, my students will be able to explore a new art form, and students will learn to transfer their pictures from the camera to the computer. They will learn to edit their pictures and to print them. Students would also be able to take pictures of work that they do in math and science.

With your help, it will be possible for my students to experience the excitement, enjoyment and pleasure of taking their own pictures. You will help them become more experienced and creative writers. You will also help ensure that my students are engaged in a technologically advanced 21st century!
