Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach music at a school and service about 400 kids Pre-k through 5th grade. We are an inner city public school and service a very diverse community including a large Hispanic and African American population.

Unfortunately, we are lacking basic rhythm instruments. It is my first year teaching at this school and I was appalled to find that any instruments the school had were either lost or stolen over the summer as a the school was completely packed up and remodeled.

The solution is to provide my kids the best music education possible. I would love for them to experience all types of music, including multi-cultural instruments. Using these instruments in class will help students love music.

Many of my students come from disadvantaged families and just seeing the students leave music class with a smile on their face is well worth the small price tag. What few instruments I have purchased myself have been received with excitement and enthusiasm.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
