Ms. Ingram Southwest Elementary School
High Point, NC Grades PreK-2

I teach all subjects to a heterogeneous class of 24 kindergarteners at a K-5 elementary school.

Kindergarteners work hard and enthusiastically to learn important math skills. They need and want to be able to touch and manipulate learning materials. Using engaging counters helps make it easier for those young learners to learn math skills such as counting, graphing, patterning, sorting, comparing and problem solving.

I would like to have three sets of counters for my students to use. I would like sea creatures, wild animals, and bugs. My students will be able to use these counters to develop number sense, build graphs, make patterns, sort and compare by attributes, and solve problems. I would also like a set of math trays. Each tray has compartments to hold counters as students sort, make patterns, graph and compare using a Venn diagram. These materials will make it easier for my students to master necessary math skills.

These fun counters will allow my students the opportunity to have hands on experiences in many aspects of the math curriculum. I will also be able to use the math trays for a variety of math lessons and individual practice activities. I appreciate any support you can give towards helping me with this goal.
