I teach a 2nd grade gifted and talented class in New York City. My school is a Title I school where 96% of the students receive free lunch. My school community is very giving and supportive but simply does not have to resources to make every classroom as "homey" as it could be.

Right now, when my students come to the "Meeting Area", they sit on the cold, hard floor. My classroom has no carpet and they are just took expensive for me to buy. This year, my school's budget was cut drastically and the rugs we were promised were never able to be bought.

If you decide to find my proposal for a classroom carpet, my students will finally have a comfortable place to meet. No longer will my students have to squish together on the cold, hard floor. Additionally, the calming colors of the rug will help my overly-active students calm down and slow down.

Please help my students to appreciate the meeting time that we have each day. Please help my students want to go to the classroom library, which is also our meeting area, to sit and read a book rather than sigh and moan each time they are asked to come to the meeting area. Also, please help my wonderful 2nd graders have a comfortable place that, for 7 hours a day, they can call "their own"
